Watching over you – Bandai

Watching over you by Bandai

Company: Bandai

Release: 2022+

Size: +/- 3.5 cm

Main distribution: Japan / USA / UK (Gashapon machines)

This is a little Gashapon line of figures laying and peaking over the edge, watching you from above, hence the name Watching Over You. They are distributed in Gashapon machines by Bandai.

Only 2 sets of 5 have come out of this series so far; resulting in 10 figures.

I have 1/10.

The figures come in coloured transparent balls so you can see which one you got without opening it.

Long-tailed Tit

Watching over you by Bandai - Series 2 Long-tailed Tit

Long-tailed Tit is laying on its belly resting on its folded wings and looking down as the series Watching Over You is known for. It’s a little bird, with black and brown markings and grey wingtips. Its expression is neutral, if somewhat curious.
The branding is on its the bottom in a dented square and reads in raised font “©BANDAI B. the 4 dots of Bandai 2689963”.

I went back to the gashapon store again and this time they had this new series in. This feels like a spin-off series of Still Waiting For You as it’s quite similar in theme of little animals watching / waiting. Although this line might be an ever weirder / funnier humanoid pose for animals to be in.

They only had series 2 (shame as I would have liked that raccoon), so we attempted to get the Hamster for my husband. Alas, it was the Long-tailed Tit.

This pose is super weird for a bird, but it looks funny regardless. We quite like the Chilling on Cords birds, but this one due to its pose doesn’t seem to fit well with them. It’s watching my husband now at his desk.

If you like Gashapon, little figures and funny animals, you’ll like this series. Be advised they may be expensive depending where you find them.
If you prefer larger or articulated toys, you might give these a miss.
