Dragon Ball Z Poster Pack – 1000 Editions

DBZ Posters 1000 Editions

Series: Dragon Ball Z & Dragon Ball GT

Company: 1000 Editions

Year: 1986 – 1997

Size: 30 x 24 cm

Main distribution: Europe / Spain

This is a set of Dragon Ball Z and GT posters. I could not find much information, apart from it being called “1000 editions”, which I believe was the company’s name which was located in Spain. I assume they also got printed here. The artwork used seems to be various promotional work, and dates from 1986 to 1997.

These posters from 1000 editions appears to be a set of 16 posters. I have 8 of them. They all have “© 1989 Bird Studio/Shueisha./TOEI ANIMATION (Japan)” in the bottom left corner, and “№ X 1000 editions – CTRA. PERELLO, S/N / 43513 RASQUERA (TARRAGONA) SPAIN” in the bottom right.

I couldn’t find much information of these, but I did find a Spanish site that listed these as a set of 16. They come in a large poster enveloppe that simply lists these as “Dragon Ball Z Poster Pack”. On the front of this enveloppe is Poster № 7. The back is blank and shows a small version of all 16 posters, with “1000 editions” on it. None of those were laminated however.

Thanks to Enoraelle for the image!

1000 editions seemed to have done several anime posters / art prints, including Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon and Akira. I do not know if they sold laminated prints.

I don’t think Akira Toriyama drew these artworks, but others of his staff whom were more in charge of key animations and promotional work. I hope to find the artist’s names.

I remember buying these separate in a German store (hence I only have 8). It is possible they bought the set, laminated them and sold them separately for profit. I seem to be missing the ones that mostly depict just Goku or Dragon Ball GT, which are my least favourite, so it’s possible I bought my favourites first.

I will list them, and show the ones I have, below. I hope to scan them at some point in high quality, but for now photo’s will do. Not sure how well that goes either due to the reflection of the lamination.

This one depicts Goku in the middle, a Goku Super Saiyan on the right, and a variety of cast on the left. From top to bottom Vegeta, Trunks, Krillin, Chiaotzu, Tien, Gohan, Yamcha and Piccolo. It seems to spawn Saiyan Saga up to Trunks Saga. I do not own this one (although I swear I did!).

№ 4

DBZ Posters 1000 Editions Poster 4

This poster depicts Kid Buu large on the left top corner, with a smaller Kid Buu, Majin Buu, Hercule and Mystic Gohan next to it on the right. In the front on the bottom right corner stand Super Saiyan Goku and dead Super Saiyan Vegeta back to back. Goku has a thumbs up while Vegeta has his arms folded. One of my personal favourites as Vegeta looks cool on this.

№ 5

This poster depicts Future Trunks. He seems to have just come from the Hyperbolic Time Chamber as his hair is long, his clothes ripped and he’s at Kami’s Lookout. He sits sternly and faces the viewer.

As mentioned above, I remember buying these separate in a German store in Aachen, buying one or a couple every time I visited, and getting my favourites first. Back then, anything with Dragon Ball on was cool and I would buy. There wasn’t much to be found back then, and we didn’t have internet yet. A friend recommended me the place and my aunt (who lives and is familiar in Germany) drove me there.

I never hung them up though. My room had walls you couldn’t really hang anything on, and it frequently leaked. I didn’t want to damage them, so I stored them neatly till I had my own place. Now that I have my own place, I dug them out again and started to look more into them.

I love these types of art and want to preserve these. The 80’s and 90’s is my favourite era. Ah nostalgia! Old Dragon Ball Art is also so much nicer I find than the newer stuff. I don’t think I’ll ever hang these up though, but they will be nicely stored with my art books.

I’d love to find out more about these, so any information is welcome.

The photo’s are, as always, of the actual items in hand and not stock photos. Enoraelle has kindly shared photo’s of his full set so I could illustrate the ones I’m missing. Thank you very much!

Got any more details / information you think I should add? Or did I get something wrong? Do you own the same posters? Do you agree or disagree with my findings? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. Hello, i don’t know if my precedent comment was send or not . I have the full set in the original packaging . I will send it on ebay, but if you are interessed, make me an offer . If you want pictures for your blog i can send you some .

      1. Hello, I can not find any information on these poster outside of this article really. What I do find interesting is I have N°24? Same company and all. I’m confused if there is only 16.

        1. It is hard to find any info on these, I agree! And the company no longer exists I believe which only makes it harder. I struggled as well finding info when doing this write up.
Just like I don’t know why mine are laminated. As I wrote I assume the shop broke up the set, laminated them and sold them separately.
I found the full set of 16 here: https://bit.ly/3eb97bv

Maybe they made more of Dragonball? Maybe there is a second set?

I know there are several of Sailor Moon from the same company as well.
Maybe someone in Spain knows a lot more of these than I do…

I’m very curious to know what N°24 / yours looks like. 🙂

  2. Hello, i have the full set in the original package . I let them in their packaging and never take them out of the packaging . I want to sell the complet pack, if you are interessed, make me an offer . I can send you pictures of the set . (sorry for my english)

    1. Hi! Sorry, holidays kept me away from here. Thanks very much for the offer. Although I’ll keep the ones I got, I don’t think I’ll be buying any more of these.
If you have more info on these (I would like to know the artists for example!) or want to provide images, feel free to email me: info[at]jennystroom[dot]nl.

      1. This is like super late (thanks to a house move and WFH making me lose desk space for my own computer) but thank you so much for sending those images! I did not forget about them!
I have finally managed to update the blog with them. 🙂

    2. Hello do you still have you’re set of posters for sale? I know I’m really late in this reply. $100 sound good? Please let me know.

      1. Hi Kyle,

Mine are not for sale sorry. I don’t know if Enoraelle still has his or will see this. Good luck finding a set for yourself! 🙂

  3. I owned about 40 posters. Some I had from when I was in 5th grade back in 1998. Sadly, some people broke into our storage unit and stole the posters that were in a poster tube. I doubt they did anything with it since they didn’t touch my other DB collectibles. Well, I’m going to start all over again since these posters meant so much to me.
