World’s Smallest are miniature versions of iconic retro toys. Several sets have been made like action figures, games and toys. And within these sets even more series have been made. This is the Hot Wheels line.
Super Impulse, in partnership with Mattel, created a special collection of Hot Wheels original sets from 1968 – in miniature. They’re die-cast in 1:18 scale, and actually work. This means the wheels spin. There’s also a miniature case and miniature orange tracks.
Each series has 3 cars to collect.
Each miniature item comes in World’s Smallest packaging, which is like a clam shell and showcases the item in the middle.

I love miniature things, let alone nostalgic retro toys, so when I saw World’s Smallest I wanted to have some. As long as it was tiny, and preferably something nostalgic to me. But they are quite expensive (RRP £6~8) for the tiny toy you get. I just can’t justify spending £5+ on these. So I wait for them to hit the sale, which never takes that long with these things. Of course the selection of what’s left is limited then, so for now I only have some Hot Wheels. But for £2.50 I can’t complain.
Although I was never into cars, with two brothers you just ended up playing with them. We had a lot of Matchbox and Hot Wheels, all mixed, and build cities, played with parking garages and raced and stunt.
These tiny Hot Wheels bring me back to that. And I love that they actually work, with spinning wheels. Quality wise I can’t complain. I also love that you can remove and return them to their little packaging. However, I wish the packaging was less generic, and unique to each car. At the very least, I wish it had the name of the car on it!
The branding underneath I found also interesting as it says 2019, while they released in 2020. The same occurred on my Mario Kart Hot Wheels, also being one year off, so perhaps Hot Wheels take a year to produce?
I hope to find a few more of these miniatures for nice prices.
If you like miniatures, or die-cast cars and Hot Wheels, you’ll love these. If you prefer bigger stuff, you want to give these a miss.
