These are mini figures based on the The Super Mario Bros. movie from Illumination, made by Jakks Pacific.
The mini figures are small, 1.25 inch scale figures that come with a question block that can be unfolded to reveal a scene from the movie. The question mark block can also house the figure inside.
The figures released in waves of 6 figures, resulting in 12 total.

Wave 1 released ahead of the movie, and contains 6 figures;
Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Kamek and Red Koopa Paratrooper.

It has the Super Mario Bros. movie logo in the top left corner, and the figure with open question mark block on the right corner. Furthermore is the name prominent on the front. The back shows the rest of the figures of the wave, as well as the current figure with open question mark block again and the bottom has the barcode.
Peach is wearing her iconic pink dress and little golden crown. She stands neutral, with arms on the sides and a neutral expression on her face. She has a ball point joint in the neck, but due to her long hair can’t move very much. On the bottom you can see her feet, which is a nice touch. The branding is also on the bottom, in raised font it reads: JAKKS CHINA.

Dry Bones

Dry Bones has blue hands and feet and looks like a skeleton. His hands are open and his jaw is open, with a vacant stare in his eyes. He has joints in his shoulders and neck, meaning he can move his arms up and down and turn his headt. He doesn’t appear to have branding on him.
His Question Mark Block also reveals a scene from Bowser’s Kingdom, although different from Shy Guy’s, and also has a brown base. The Super Mario Bros. Movie was a fun film to watch. It wasn’t amazing, but there’s plenty of references to enjoy it. I wasn’t a fan of the redesign of most of the characters, but I get they tried to give it it’s own artistic style to stand out from the 3D games, as well as making it easier to animate some characters.
Plenty of toy lines came out alongside the film, and although not a fan of most of them, I do like the mini figures, mainly because I love miniature things. They remind me of the World of Nintendo Micro Land figures. So I bought a few, mostly the ones that didn’t deviate too much from their original design.
Peach didn’t change much, the differences are mainly in her face and realistic hair textures, as well as a more detailed crown. As she doesn’t get as much merchandise as the Mario brothers as well, I bought her.
Kamek looks pretty much the same as his game variant, bar some more details. I also love this character thanks to Yoshi’s Island, so I definitely needed him. Weirdly he was the hardest to get, and a lot of the stores that carried this line, would not carry him here. In the end I got him from an independent toy store.
Shy Guy is one of my favourite Mario characters, so I needed him. His design hasn’t changed at all, for he is perfection. Of course I got him immediately when wave 2 came out.
Dry Bones also didn’t seem to have had any design changes, so I bought him too.
The fact these tiny figures have articulation was a nice surprise. Although it’s basic, its nice it’s there.
I’m sad they didn’t continue these and made more waves. It would have been great to have mini Donkey Kong and family, Bowser and the Penguins. Although I understand the Super Mario Bros. Movie toy lines didn’t do very well. Perhaps they didn’t mix well with the other Mario toys, being so visually different. As well as being quite pricey. These mini figures retailed for £7, which is a lot for a tiny figure and a question block no one uses. It’s better to wait for the sales imo.
