Infinite Splashing Magikarp
Release: 8 July 2023
Barcode: 4521329379494
3 different Magikarp can be gotten; Male, Female and Shiny.
When winding the Magikarp up it performs Splash, and wiggles it’s tail and fins, flopping on the ground.
They come in a large capsule in the colours of a Pokéball.
Opening it shows the Magikarp in plastic and a leaflet with all 3 Magikarp.
The leaflet is in full colour. All 3 figures are the same, except for their paintjob.
I got 1/3.
Magikarp (Male)
Magikarp is a decent size and slightly bigger than your average gashapon. The male variant is trademarked by its yellow whiskers. The wind up mechanism is in its body, with the handle sticking out at the bottom. It makes the tail flap, mimicking Magikarp’s iconic Splash, while flopping on the surface. Its fins can flap as well, but are not connected to the mechanism. There are no brands or further markings on Magikarp.
Infinite Worried Psyduck
Release: 2024
Barcode: 4521329384863
4 different Psyduck can be gotten; Normal, Troubled Eyes, Closed Eyes and Confusion, which glows in the dark.
When winding the Psyduck up it performs Confusion, and wobbles from left to right and back.
They come in a yellow capsule with a transparent top, so you can see which one you’ll get.
Opening it shows the Psyduck in plastic and a leaflet with all 4 Psyduck.
The leaflet is in full colour. All 4 figures are the same, except for their eyes, and one glows in the dark.
We got 1/4.
Psyduck (Closed Eyes)
Psyduck is a decent size and slightly bigger than your average gashapon. The closed eyes variant is trademarked by its closed >< eyes. The wind up mechanism is in its body, with the handle sticking out at the back. It makes the legs move up and down, resulting in its body moving left and right, mimicking Psyduck’s iconic Confusion, where he gets a massive headache. Under his right foot is the branding that simply reads in a raised font: © Pokémon.
When I saw these wind-up Pokémon I found them such a novel idea. Wind up toys feel very nostalgic to me too.
So I bought one Magikarp for fun. Although I wouldn’t be too upset with any of them, I preferred the male version so I’m very glad I got him! His animation is funny and very iconic Magikarp. As far as wind up toys go, I find this one brilliant.
Later they released Psyduck. Already content with one, my husband actually thought this wobbling Psyduck would be fun, so he bought this one. He chose the closed eyes one. It’s animation is great too and looks just like Psyduck. Even the winding mechanism purring sounds a bit like Psyduck going psy-ay-ay.
If you love wind up toys, Pokémon or Magikarp/Psyduck, you will love this.
If you prefer higher quality toys, you’ll give this one a miss.
