It’s always nice to have a 3D rendition of your favourite game characters to physically hold in your hand. And this Nintendo line has many, in various sizes. I like the size of 4″ figures, but some of the smaller 2.5″ ones are great to keep things in scale.

I had just moved to England and the World of Nintendo line had started hitting shelves, and to make my new home a bit more geek (seeing all my stuff hadn’t moved over yet) I bought the Goomba. He’s one of my favourite video game enemies, so I had to have him. He stood proudly on my TV for a long time. I didn’t take a picture of his packaging sadly, but I recall having the cardboard question mark block still somewhere. Later I found the smaller 2.5″ ones which work much better with the rest of the line in scale, so he’s kinda superfluous in my collection now, but it’s still nice to have a big Goomba, especially the first release one. The coin is a cute add-on too.

I always wanted to get a classic Koopa Troopa as well, and eventually settled for the green Koopa Paratroopa, because he didn’t have the UK branding as prominent on his shell, and also if you remove the wings he’s a normal Troopa, so 2 figures for the price of 1.

I missed the Lakitu with the fishing rod (or rather, I never spotted him here) so I was very happy they re-released him so I could get him finally. I love to hang things on his hook, especially the Mario Kart Hotwheels.

And with both Super Mario World as well as Yoshi’s Island being one my favourite mario games, I had to have a Magikoopa. I try to stick with the Super Mario World and Yoshi’s Island cast as those are my favourite Mario games from the Super Famicom / SNES.

It’s amazing how many different figures have been made in this line, and although I’ll never go for them all, I’m glad there’s such a variety to choose from.
For now I’ll just grab my favourite guys.
Which oddly seem to be a lot of baddies… I should grab a Mario at some point, but he always seems to be available.

My only pet peeve is all the import information on the UK figures…

If you like Nintendo, Mario and articulated figures, you’ll love these.
If you prefer smaller figures, you’ll give these a miss.

Got any more details / information you think I should add? Or did I get something wrong? Do you own any of these figures? Which one is your fav? Do you agree or disagree with my findings? Let me know in the comments below!
