This is a Gachapon set of a Mofusand x Sanrio collaboration.
Mofusand is a group of cats, drawn by Juno-sensei, an illustrator in Japan. The cats sometimes wear headgear, rollover, interact with other animals, and collaborate with other works. The cats have no specific names, and the term ‘Mofusand’ refers to the entire line.
In this collaboration, the realistic looking cats of Mofusand are dressed up as Sanrio characters, and hold their chosen character as a plushie or figurine.
They come in Gachapon capsules from a Gachapon machine and are wrapped in plastic.
6 different figures can be collected.
I got 1/6.
Hello Kitty
Hello Kitty is a realistic looking white cat with blue eyes, which wears a red bowtie. She is standing on her hind legs, looking anthropomorphic. She is holding a Hello Kitty doll, wearing her iconic red bowtie as well, and in blue overalls. The branding is on her back, reading in raised font © mofusand © ’23 SANRIO ⓁM KC CHINA.
I’m not a cat person, so I’ve ignored most of Mofusand. I’m also not a fan of dressed up animals, at least realistically looking ones or IRL. So I don’t really like most of Mofusand.
I recognise most Sanrio characters but again don’t have much with them. I prefer Miffy over Hello Kitty.
But when I saw this collab something tickled me about the Hello Kitty cat. The realistic looking, anthropomorphic Hello Kitty, holding her cartoon Hello Kitty was funny to me. The little bowtie is cute and not over the top like the others with pants and hoods. Her little neutral face really sells it to me. So I bought it.
She’s funny looking and stands on my shelf. She’s a great conversation starter too. I won’t be getting any others though, but this one I like.
If you like gacha, Mofusand, Sanrio or cat figures, I recommend getting these. They are of nice quality and look great.
If you dislike cats, you’ll probably give these a miss.
